Credit-Wise Cats

The Credit-Wise Cats is funded by Take Charge America, a debt-management non-profit organization in Phoenix, Arizona and supported by The University of Arizona. We are committed to providing educational resources to help students achieve financial success. The mission of the Credit-Wise Cats is to foster and support the development of sound financial management practices for children, youth, college students, and adults. Our highly trained counselors provide community outreach through presenting money management workshops, regional and national case study competitions, middle and high school case study competitions, and other creative programs to fulfill our mission of teaching personal finance.

Credit-Wise Cats began in 2000 with just 5 student credit counselors educating students on campus. This year alone they have taught over 1,600 youth and adults in the Tucson community through 122 workshops, increasing audience members’ knowledge of personal finance by 37%.

To date, they have extended their educational outreach efforts to directly impact over 5,000 college students, local youth, and community members. Our program has developed “Credit-Wise” teams on other University campuses and provided case study competition opportunities to over 100 SIFE teams around the country.

Credit-Wise Cats are trained to facilitate workshops that cover four key areas in personal finance.
